Telmisartan and Atorvastatin are used in the treatment of high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

How it Works

How Telmisartan and Atorvastatin Work Telmisartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It functions by blocking the hormone angiotensin, which relaxes blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. Atorvastatin is a lipid-lowering medication (statin). It works by inhibiting an enzyme (HMG-CoA reductase) that is necessary for the body to produce cholesterol. This action lowers "bad" cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides while raising "good" cholesterol (HDL).

Side Effects

Common side effects of Telmisartan and Atorvastatin include nausea, stomach pain, constipation, headache, dizziness, muscle pain, weakness, increased glucose levels in the blood, increased potassium levels in the blood, and elevated liver enzymes.

Telmisartan + Atorvastatin treats high blood pressure associated with elevated cholesterol levels.
Together, they reduce your risk of heart attack and stroke.
Take this medication in conjunction with regular exercise and a low-fat diet.
It may cause dizziness; get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position.
This medication may increase potassium levels in the blood.
Avoid taking potassium supplements and potassium-rich foods, such as bananas and broccoli.
Inform your doctor if you experience muscle symptoms (pain or weakness), especially if accompanied by fever, malaise, or dark urine.
Notify your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
Do not discontinue the medication abruptly without consulting your doctor.
