Apalutamide is used in the treatment of cancer, including prostate cancer, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and excessive hair growth.
How it Works
How Apalutamide works Prostate cancer cells rely on androgens for growth and survival. Even when the cancer becomes resistant to standard hormonal therapies, such as castration-resistant cases, androgen receptors in the cancer cells remain active and continue to promote cancer growth. Apalutamide targets these androgen receptors, blocking their activation and preventing them from binding to androgens. This action inhibits the signaling pathway that drives the growth and proliferation of prostate cancer cells.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Apalutamide include fatigue, skin rash, high blood pressure, flushing (a sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck, and trunk), joint pain, diarrhea, falls, and weight loss.

- Inform your doctor if you notice yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, or abdominal pain.
- Do not stop taking the medication without consulting your doctor first.
