How it Works

How Diphenhydramine, Ammonium Chloride, Terpin Hydrate, Sodium Citrate, and Menthol Work Diphenhydramine, Ammonium Chloride, Terpin Hydrate, Sodium Citrate, and Menthol is a combination of five medications: Diphenhydramine, Ammonium Chloride, Terpin Hydrate, Sodium Citrate, and Menthol. Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine that blocks the action of certain chemical messengers responsible for inflammation, congestion, itching, and other allergic reactions. Ammonium chloride is an expectorant that decreases the stickiness of mucus and aids in its removal from the airways. Terpin Hydrate also reduces the stickiness of mucus, facilitating its removal from the airways. Sodium citrate is a mucolytic that thins and loosens mucus, making it easier to expel through coughing. Menthol produces a cooling effect on the skin by dilating blood vessels, resulting in a sensation of coldness followed by an analgesic effect. Additionally, Menthol acts as a penetration enhancer, increasing the absorption of drugs when applied to the skin, leading to a faster onset of action.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Diphenhydramine, Ammonium Chloride, Terpin Hydrate, Sodium Citrate, and Menthol include sedation, dizziness, inability to concentrate, impaired coordination, irritability, insomnia (difficulty sleeping), tremors, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dryness of the mouth, headache, fatigue, and blurred vision.
