How Irbesartan and Amlodipine work Irbesartan and Amlodipine is a combination of two medications: Irbesartan and Amlodipine. Irbesartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking the action of a chemical that typically causes blood vessels to constrict. This action lowers blood pressure, allowing blood to flow more smoothly to various organs and enabling the heart to pump more efficiently. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that helps normalize blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels, thereby reducing pressure on them and improving overall blood flow in the body. The enhanced blood flow further relaxes the heart muscles by decreasing the workload on the heart, improving oxygen delivery throughout the body and helping to prevent heart-related chest pain.
