How it Works
How Alprostadil works Alprostadil is similar to a natural substance in the body known as prostaglandin E1. It functions by enhancing blood flow in newborns with heart defects. When administered in the penis, it acts locally to relax the blood vessels and increase blood flow in that area. This leads to a prolonged erection that is sufficient for sexual activity.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Alprostadil include apnea (absence of breathing), fever, seizures, flushing (a sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck, and trunk), arrhythmia (irregular heartbeats), diarrhea, and sepsis.
