How Met XL Amt Tablet ER works Met XL Amt 50/5/40 Tablet ER contains three antihypertensive medications. Metoprolol succinate works by slowing heart rate to decrease blood pressure. Amlodipine relaxes blood vessels. Telmisartan inhibits vasoconstriction and relaxes the blood vessels.
