It depends on why this was recommended to you in the first place. Heme iron polypeptide is specifically meant to treat or prevent iron deficiency, and most standard multivitamins contain only a small amount of iron not enough to correct a real deficiency or replace iron therapy. If a blood test showed low iron or hemoglobin, I'd hold off on substituting it yourself and instead ask your doctor whether a multivitamin would actually cover your needs.
