This medicine is used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Adequate sugar control lessens your risk of heart attack or stroke also. Piotop UD 15mg/1mg Tablet should be taken in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It must be taken with food to avoid stomach upset. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose. Overdose may lead to low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Some people may develop edema (swelling), cold symptoms, headache, urinary tract infection, diarrhea, nausea, leg pain, reduced blood cell count, infection, and accidental injury. However, these are temporary and usually subside on their own. If these do not resolve or bother you, please consult your doctor. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any kidney, liver or heart problems. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor before taking it. It also improves the body?s response to the hormone insulin, which is responsible for regulating blood glucose (sugar) levels in our body. The insulin helps to lower your blood glucose levels and prevents them from rising after taking meals. You should keep taking it for as long as it is prescribed. Lowering blood glucose levels is an essential part of managing diabetes. If you can control the level you will reduce the risk of getting any of the serious complications of diabetes such as kidney damage, eye damage, nerve problems, and loss of limbs. Taking this medicine regularly along with proper diet and exercise will help you live a normal, healthy life.
The majority of side effects typically do not necessitate medical intervention. and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Piotop UD 15mg/1mg Tablet is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines: Pioglitazone and glimepiride. Pioglitazone is a thiazolidinedione which works by increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin. Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea which works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas in order to lower the blood glucose. Together, they provide better control of blood sugar.
Alcohol
Unsafe: Avoid consuming alcohol with Piotop UD 15mg/1mg Tablet as it is deemed unsafe.
Pregnancy
Seek medical advice from your doctor: Piotop UD 15mg/1mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Doctor consultation is advised.
Breast feeding
Safe when prescribed by an expert: Piotop UD 15mg/1mg Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby. Driving
Caution Advised: Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is too low or too high. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Kidney
Caution Advised: Piotop UD 15mg/1mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Piotop UD 15mg/1mg Tablet may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised. Use of Piotop UD 15mg/1mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. These patients can experience very low blood sugar levels which may become normal after a long time.
Liver
Caution Advised: Piotop UD 15mg/1mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Piotop UD 15mg/1mg Tablet may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised. Use of Piotop UD 15mg/1mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease. These patients can experience very low blood sugar levels which may become normal after a long time.
Store in a cool and dry place, and keep the temperature below 30�C
Take it as per the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor.� Take it with the first main meal of the day (usually breakfast).� It may cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal. Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemic symptoms such as cold sweats, cool pale skin, tremor, and anxiety. Inform your doctor if you notice weight gain, shortness of breath,� irregular heartbeat, or any abnormal swelling. Your doctor may check your liver function regularly. Inform your doctor if you develop symptoms such as abdominal pain, loss of appetite, or yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice).
