Ebast M 10 10mg Tablet 10s is an anti‑allergy combination containing Ebastine (a modern antihistamine) and Montelukast (a leukotriene receptor blocker). It is mainly used for long‑term control of allergic rhinitis and related symptoms of the nose, eyes, and airways, such as sneezing, runny or blocked nose, itching, and nighttime cough linked to allergy. It is not a rescue treatment for sudden asthma attacks or a medicine for infections like common cold, influenza, pneumonia, or for non‑allergic problems such as psoriasis, acne, anxiety, or chronic joint pain.
Ebast M 10 10mg Tablet 10s combines two complementary anti‑allergy medicines into a single daily dose. Ebastine is a second‑generation H1 antihistamine designed to relieve allergy symptoms without the marked drowsiness seen with older antihistamines. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that reduces inflammation and narrowing in the airways by blocking leukotrienes, chemicals involved in allergic and asthma‑related responses.
This combination is particularly useful in people whose allergies affect both the upper airway (nose, sinuses, eyes) and, to a lesser extent, the lower airway (mild allergic asthma or nighttime cough). It is typically prescribed as a preventive or controller medicine, taken every day during allergy seasons or longer in perennial allergic rhinitis. While Ebast M 10 10mg Tablet 10s can improve asthma‑related symptoms when used as part of a larger plan, it must not replace inhaled steroids or quick‑relief inhalers in moderate or severe asthma, and it has no role in treating viral infections, sepsis, meningitis, tuberculosis, or chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, rheumatoid arthritis, or dementia.
Ebast M 10 10mg Tablet 10s should be used only for clearly allergy‑related conditions. It is not meant for common cold, influenza, dengue, chikungunya, COVID‑like viral fevers, or non‑allergic stomach complaints such as irritable bowel syndrome or simple acidity.
Allergic rhinitis (seasonal and perennial): Treatment and prevention of sneezing, nasal itching, runny nose, nasal congestion, and itchy, watery eyes triggered by pollen, dust mites, animal dander, or mould.
In patients who have both nasal allergies and mild persistent asthma, Ebast M 10 10mg Tablet 10s helps control upper airway symptoms and can reduce allergy‑related wheeze or nighttime cough as part of a complete asthma regimen.
Used as maintenance therapy in people who experience frequent or year‑round allergy flares to reduce the intensity and frequency of episodes.
It may help in selected patients whose persistent cough is mainly due to allergic post‑nasal drip, though it is not a primary cough suppressant and does not treat infections like bronchitis or pneumonia.
Ebast M 10 10mg Tablet 10s is not indicated for: acute asthma attacks, bacterial infections (pneumonia, bacterial skin infections, sinusitis due to bacteria), serious systemic illnesses (sepsis, meningitis, encephalitis), or chronic non‑allergic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, coronary artery disease, stroke, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, psoriasis, acne, or eczema not driven by allergy.
Most side effects are mild and short‑lived; serious reactions are uncommon but important to recognise.
Ebast M 10 10mg Tablet 10s targets two main chemical pathways in allergy and asthma‑related inflammation:
Ebastine: a second‑generation H1 histamine receptor antagonist. When allergens trigger histamine release, histamine binds to H1 receptors and causes itching, sneezing, a runny nose, and watery eyes. Ebastine blocks these receptors, reducing these symptoms with minimal penetration into the brain, so it tends to be less sedating than older antihistamines.
Montelukast: a cysteinyl‑leukotriene (CysLT1) receptor antagonist. Leukotrienes cause swelling of the airway lining, increased mucus, and tightening of airway muscles. By blocking CysLT1 receptors, Montelukast reduces this inflammation and bronchoconstriction, helping with allergy‑related asthma symptoms and supporting control of nasal congestion.
Together, these actions calm allergic inflammation in both the upper and lower airways, improving breathing comfort and reducing day‑to‑day symptoms in appropriately selected patients.
Generally non‑sedating, but until you know how you feel on Ebast M 10 10mg Tablet 10s, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery if you notice drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred concentration.
Use only if clearly needed and prescribed. Discuss your stage of pregnancy and allergy/asthma control with your doctor to balance potential benefits and risks.
Occasional small amounts may be tolerated, but alcohol can worsen dizziness or tiredness in some people. Avoid heavy drinking and be careful if you need to drive or work at heights.
May be taken with or without food. A light meal can help if you are prone to gastritis or acidity.
Not suitable as a rescue medicine for asthma attacks—always keep your quick‑relief inhaler if you have asthma. People with chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, coronary artery disease, or liver disease should inform their doctor before starting Ebast M 10 10mg Tablet 10s.
If you miss a dose and remember on the same day, take it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue your usual schedule the following day. Do not take a double dose to “catch up”, as this can increase side effects such as headache, stomach upset, or palpitations without improving symptom control. If you often forget doses and your symptoms are poorly controlled, speak with your doctor about reminder methods or alternate strategies.
