Ambiglip Tm 500 20mg Tablet 10s is an oral anti-diabetic medication used to manage Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in adults. It is a fixed-dose combination of Metformin, a biguanide, and Teneligliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, which work together through complementary mechanisms to improve blood glucose control in people with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
Metformin primarily lowers blood sugar by reducing the amount of glucose produced by the liver, improving the body’s sensitivity to insulin in muscle and fat tissues, and slightly decreasing glucose absorption from the gastrointestinal tract. Teneligliptin works by inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, which increases levels of incretin hormones. These hormones stimulate insulin release and reduce glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner, helping to control blood sugar without causing excessive insulin release.

Used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adult patients who are inadequately controlled on Metformin or Teneligliptin monotherapy, or who are already being treated with both components as separate tablets.
Combines two complementary mechanisms. Metformin reduces glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity. Teneligliptin enhances insulin release in a glucose-dependent manner, resulting in better HbA1c reduction than either component alone.
Teneligliptin increases insulin only when blood sugar is elevated, keeping the risk of low blood sugar low.
The combination generally does not cause weight gain.

This combination has a low risk of hypoglycemia when used alone. However, if symptoms like dizziness or blurred vision occur, avoid driving and operating machinery.
The Metformin component is excreted via the kidneys. Impaired kidney function (low GFR) increases the risk of Metformin accumulation and Lactic Acidosis. Dose adjustment or discontinuation is mandatory based on kidney function tests.

Overdose is primarily associated with the risk of Lactic Acidosis (from Metformin) and, rarely, severe hypoglycemia (if combined with other anti-diabetics). Action Required: If an overdose is suspected, seek emergency medical attention immediately. Lactic Acidosis requires urgent treatment and specialised care.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember with food, unless it is almost time for your next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.
